December photos and video

Hi:

Loki with Dr. Ahsan, Mom's Ob/Gyn who delivered him:

With Laureen:

Wizard?

With his fellow NICU graduate. He's the one that Loki bullied a bit at our house. But as a guest, Loki was more polite (photo by friend's mom).

Gift drive madness:

In these four short clips, (1) Loki points to the Christmas tree, his toys, Rebecca, and the lamp upon being asked; (2) Loki crawls quite rapidly, and then solves the problem of how to get the shoe [which has never been worn, by the way] by going under the table; (3) Loki sticks out his tongue and shares his pacifier when asked; and (4) some typically strange babbling via the audio monitor. As always, those reading via email will need to click on the headline or here to view this on the web.

Superleuk, het filmpje! Wat is het hard gegaan zeg de laatste tijd. Hij is nu al weer zo'n ander jongetje dan 2 maanden geleden! Echt heel erg leuk om te zien!

Leuk man! Hij kruipt alweer weer sneller dan toen ik er een paar weken geleden was. Hij is natuurlijk het slimste jongetje ever.
Wat zullen de families in de NICU blij zijn met jullie actie. Gewoon op je CV zetten hoor:-)

I don't think that is a wizard picture--I think it is Loki accepting his grammy award for best musical improv...with his rock bank "the Tricksters: or practicing for his Nobel Prize in the future. He looks great! Happy, happy holidays. I have a huge bag of syringes of many sizes for you--and a brand new MicKey for when he finally gets his--email me a good time to stop by. Ho Ho HO. Your friend, Cheryl Claws.

And btw--nice shoes. I guess they have a few teeth marks now, eh?

NO teeth yet, but if the shoes would have teeth mark, oh well! Never worn them and probably never will! Just in case dress up shoes ;-)

Very sweet. As always.

I wish you a wonderful Christmas, the first that you can celebrate at home with your little trickster.

We have tons of snow here in Northern Italy, and it looks very festive. Hope you can enjoy some peace and quiet time these holidays, too.

Much love,
Mascha

About Loki Sky

Loki Sky is a special little man. He was a very early micropreemie, weighing only 610 grams (1 lb, 5 oz) after 24 weeks, 3 days gestation, born to an American Father and a Dutch Mother in Berkeley, California on October 18, 2008.

On January 11, 2009, while still in the hospital NICU, his one kidney stopped working. It was repaired after three surgeries. After spending time in three hospitals in three cities, Loki came home on February 17. He struggled with eating, and then stopped in July, leading to 8 days in the hospital, a failure-to-thrive diagnosis, and a NG feeding tube. On October 10, a minor surgery installed a G feeding tube. Another procedure replaced it with a new one, and then again with a Mic-Key button in Jan. 2010.

In August 2010, he and his parents moved to the Netherlands.
