At this moment, we asked Loki whether he wanted to walk with us or be carried. He thought for a moment and said "nee nee" (no no). This image captures the realization of independence.

I (Dad) was recently out of town for work, and Mom took the opportunity to bravely fly alone with Loki to visit family. This is on the beach near Los Angeles with her cousin Nicole and Nicole's son (Loki's second cousin) Sebastian:

We recently got, as a gift, a special doll that was custom-made to be Loki's size at birth. The idea is that this will help Loki understand what he has been through. For size comparison, here is Loki with the doll:
And here is the preemie doll with a typical newborn baby outfit and with Loki's doll, who is wearing one of Loki's first outfits:

LOVE the mom-and-Loki-with-hip-glasses picture.
Loki as a preemie in comparison to the onesie looks kinda scary, though. Thankfully, there is another picture of him in all his current wonderful toddler existence.
Great pictures, great sunglasses :-).
He's gotten to be such a blondie! And thank you for posting that "walking independence picture". I started humming "these boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do...". He looks great in these last sweet days as a California baby...funny how I can feel so much love for a little guy I have seen so little--yet I do-- (partly because I love and respect his Mama so much)...He is such an incredible little survivor, and his great big spirit is hardly contained in that cute little body! Hope you will keep posting from the Netherlands...

How nice! such nice pictures! And unbelievable how small he was! Phileine has the same other doll, Lilly, his friend. Now we can get an idea of his size when he was born. he was smaller than Lilly!
We're looking forward to see you!
Much love,
Johan, Suzan & Phileine
