Holiday Gift Drive Update

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you very much for the very generous donations to Loki Sky's Holiday Gift Drive, benefiting families at the Alta Bates NICU!

We know several of you have done your shopping, are still planning on doing so, or have decided to send us money / a check so we can do the shopping for you. We want to remind you that we need the gifts and financial donations by December 10th, in order to shop, organize and wrap it all up in time.

There are quite some families in the NICU who live in tough economic circumstances and who will have a hard time time paying for diapers, baby formula, wipes and baby foods once their baby comes home. If all the promised gifts and financial donations are indeed delivered we can take this gift drive to the a next, unexpected, level: In addition to a gift for each family, we will be able to buy gift cards from the local baby store for those families in need. We can help them take a deep breath and worry just a little less about what to do when their child comes home.

This would not be possible without your amazing support!

We are very proud that the birth of our wonderful handsome Loki has inspired you all to help out other families!! What a Merry Christmas that is!

Feel free to contact Mom if you have a hard time getting the donations to us.

Love from Mom, Dad, and Loki Sky

How are you going to deliver these, btw? If it is in person, it would be lovely to hear how it went...
But wouldn't want to invade anyone's privacy, either...
Such a great idea, and nice to know that Loki continues to make good things happen in the world through his committed parents.

About Loki Sky

Loki Sky is a special little man. He was a very early micropreemie, weighing only 610 grams (1 lb, 5 oz) after 24 weeks, 3 days gestation, born to an American Father and a Dutch Mother in Berkeley, California on October 18, 2008.

On January 11, 2009, while still in the hospital NICU, his one kidney stopped working. It was repaired after three surgeries. After spending time in three hospitals in three cities, Loki came home on February 17. He struggled with eating, and then stopped in July, leading to 8 days in the hospital, a failure-to-thrive diagnosis, and a NG feeding tube. On October 10, a minor surgery installed a G feeding tube. Another procedure replaced it with a new one, and then again with a Mic-Key button in Jan. 2010.

In August 2010, he and his parents moved to the Netherlands.
