Photo & video: Slurping on the pacifier

Here, Mr. Loki has only the nose plug for breathing. But he sure likes his pacifier, which is very large compared to his face.

Here's a video of the slurping. He really gets going about half way through.

Wat een mooi jochie! Wow, he has changed! We are very happy to know he is doing so well and making wishes he will easily get through the last few days of treatment. I was very moved by your account of the birth dad! And mom, how nice to be able to feed him yourself soon! You are both wonderful parents for a wonderful little boy!

Much love,
Johan, Suzanna and Phileine

Back home again - and so far away from Loki, dad and mom, housekeeping, the cats, cooking, the laundry ..... Good to be home with frits again, and still the feeling that I should be there with you .... So nice to see him suck his pacifier and do real babythings more and more. Miss you all! Big Hug,

Oma Heleen

This is very much different! He does like like a "normal" baby more and more. And you two did your best, he is adorable and still the most beautifull baby in the world.! I like his fancy hat with all the velcrow and elastic band possibilities, So cute to see him slurping, I do see him slurping at the bottle also!
Hug for mom, dad and Loki.

About Loki Sky

Loki Sky is a special little man. He was a very early micropreemie, weighing only 610 grams (1 lb, 5 oz) after 24 weeks, 3 days gestation, born to an American Father and a Dutch Mother in Berkeley, California on October 18, 2008.

On January 11, 2009, while still in the hospital NICU, his one kidney stopped working. It was repaired after three surgeries. After spending time in three hospitals in three cities, Loki came home on February 17. He struggled with eating, and then stopped in July, leading to 8 days in the hospital, a failure-to-thrive diagnosis, and a NG feeding tube. On October 10, a minor surgery installed a G feeding tube. Another procedure replaced it with a new one, and then again with a Mic-Key button in Jan. 2010.

In August 2010, he and his parents moved to the Netherlands.
