Video: Slurping again, and three months.

Today Loki is three months old! He has gained a bit of weight two days in a row, and has been completely off all breathing support for 36 hours.

Tomorrow, the eye doctor will do another checkup. There is a chance that, if he needs it, Loki will have the laser surgery then. Scary!

And the next day, the specialists from UCSF and Children's will meet and discuss how to fix Loki's kidney.

Below is a video of Loki aggressively slurping on his pacifier. To see how far he's come, you can see the first pacifier video, which is nearly two months old.

Lieve mum and dad, lieve Loki,
it is wonderful to see you cute little Loki enjoying the sucking so much! What a strong guy you are, and growing again! I am confident mum and you will have wonderful hours while breastfeeding on the couc at home soon! We were keeping our breath last week with the move to Oakland, and reading mum's stories about what Loki was going through. Mum and dad I send you all the love and strengths you need to support your little guy! Two very big hugs to you, and a soft one to Loki!

He looks great, and he is doing so much better. My feeling tells me if he is sucking so strongly, he will be nursing fine once he can coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing.
I understand the eye surgery is another aspect that makes you really nervous. I sincerely hope things will all turn to the better very soon.

Love

About Loki Sky

Loki Sky is a special little man. He was a very early micropreemie, weighing only 610 grams (1 lb, 5 oz) after 24 weeks, 3 days gestation, born to an American Father and a Dutch Mother in Berkeley, California on October 18, 2008.

On January 11, 2009, while still in the hospital NICU, his one kidney stopped working. It was repaired after three surgeries. After spending time in three hospitals in three cities, Loki came home on February 17. He struggled with eating, and then stopped in July, leading to 8 days in the hospital, a failure-to-thrive diagnosis, and a NG feeding tube. On October 10, a minor surgery installed a G feeding tube. Another procedure replaced it with a new one, and then again with a Mic-Key button in Jan. 2010.

In August 2010, he and his parents moved to the Netherlands.
